Scholar Athletes, Inc. (SAI) is an organization that is very instrumental in the development of student athletes in Northern California. Established in 1990, the organization has grown at a very rapid pace and is now regarded as one of the largest and most popular athletic guidance programs in he country.

Known mostly for its Oakland Slam-N-Jam events and Soldiers All-Star Traveling Teams, SAI has become extremely popular among both inner city and suburban youth in Northern California. SAI has the honor of boasting an impressive roster of kids from the area and around the country that have participated in the program. SAI is extremely proud of the hundreds of former student-athletes that have gone on to attend college to further their education and continue their basketball careers.

The program was created with 12 student-athletes from the Richmond California area in the spring of 1990. These 12 kids were taken to events in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and more under the team name Oakland Slam N Jam Soldiers. Soon after, SAI started the Slam N Jam Spring Basketball league in Oakland California, and the popularity of the program began to grow at a rapid pace. The Slam N Jam Spring league started with 8 teams (100 kids) and over several years grew to include 70+ teams (900 kids) including boys and girls. The program began producing a number of college-recruited athletes and the region became a noticeable area for many college coaches and scouts. With the growth of the program we began to go to more tournaments/camps and developed sponsorship opportunities with all the major shoes companies over the years.

As the program grew in popularity the founders developed incredible relationships with some of the most important and connected people throughout the sports industry. These relationships prove to be very valuable to the program as they provided a lot of unique opportunities for the student-athletes for years to come.

Today the Soldiers basketball program is seeing unparalleled success, constantly being ranked among the top AAU teams in the country, rosters that include the nations top ranked high school players, and an alumni list that includes several NBA players. The history of this program is rich with tradition and success, and has every plan to continue in that same direction.
